Our journey into the Aging-In-Place industry began with a desire to pay it forward. We come from a culture where multigenerational families live under one roof and lovingly care for each other with deep respect and gratitude. Our professional careers have us living far away from our parents. Although they don't need any day-to-day personal care at this point, we take comfort in the fact that our siblings living closer to them are always willing to provide the help they need. We want to be helpful to the community around us in a similar way.
In 2014, we opened our first assisted living facility with the mission of caring for others’ parents as our own, with love, respect, and dignity. Specializing in memory care, we expanded to three facilities over the next few years. Since then, we’ve always been seeking new ways to serve our elders. With our experience owning and operating assisted living facilities, we’ve closely observed the challenges of aging. Moving to assisted living facilities is a great decision in certain circumstances but it is not easy. Some of the hardest things about moving to a senior care home are giving up most of your possessions, your privacy, and your independence and going through a social transition. Our deeper analysis led us to 'Golden Lining'.
Statistics suggest that people live independently longer if their own homes were safer, more accessible, and visitable. This insight led us to bring our expertise to help make homes capable of supporting aging-in-place, ensuring safety, comfort, and independence. Golden Lining specializes in making homes safer for the residents as well as for their caregivers and visitors. By leveraging our knowledge and experience in building and operating safe facilities, we aim to create living environments that support aging-in-place, allowing seniors to live with dignity and joy in their own homes and allowing their loved ones to take comfort in that fact.
We both have engineering and senior care backgrounds. Together, we have over 60 years of experience in building products and facilities, overseeing construction projects adhering to compliance standards like ADA, vendor selection, creating detailed roadmaps, and project management. We hold engineering degrees, project management, and other relevant certifications such as a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) and a Senior Home Safety Specialist® (SHSS), Personal Care Assistant (PCA), MedTech, and Assisted Living Facilities Administrator.
Our compassion, our credentials, and our extensive hands-on experience developed through close interactions with senior residents, people with disabilities, their caregivers, and visitors perfectly position us in the field of Aging-In-Place. We are excited to provide consulting, implementation, installations, and weekly check-in services. We are committed to creating safe, functional, and beautiful living environments for our clients.
We collaborate with a wonderful network of professionals, including general contractors, architects, interior designers, handymen, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, flooring specialists, bathroom and kitchen remodelers, landscapers, and experts in organizing and decluttering.
